Te mapa
Bandō lies in southwestern Ibaraki, on the flat farmland of the Kanto Plain. From above, the city is not one compact centre but a scattering of older settlements linked by roads through rice paddies and fields. The Tone River, one of Japan's largest, forms the city's southern edge, with its wide embankments and floodplain.
The area is closely tied to Taira no Masakado, the tenth-century warrior who rebelled against the court in Kyoto and is still remembered across eastern Japan. Bandō keeps shrines and sites associated with him, and his story is part of the city's local identity.
A Bandō map poster shows the rural side of greater Tokyo's outer ring. The Tone River draws a strong, wide curve across the page, clusters of houses and narrow lanes mark the old villages, and between them the open geometry of paddy field roads fills the space with a soft grid.
The broad river channel and its floodplain mark the southern boundary. They give the map a wide, flowing band of open space along one side.
Instead of a single downtown, several small clusters of dense streets sit across the plain. Each one traces back to an older village.
Farm roads and irrigation lines divide the flat land into regular plots. They create a light, even pattern between the built-up areas.

Koteā ko Bandō
Bandō is a place of family homes, local shrines and wide skies over the fields. For people who grew up here and now commute to Tokyo, or live much further away, its map is a gentle reminder of the plain and the river.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates in any language and choose one of five styles. Paper and Sand bring out the rural character. Printed posters on matte paper ship with an optional wooden frame.
