Te mapa
Bang Saphan is a district town in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, on the long narrow strip of Thailand that runs south between the Gulf of Thailand and the Myanmar border. Here the country is only a few dozen kilometres wide, and the map shows it clearly: sea on one side, forested hills on the other and a coastal plain in between.
The town lies along the southern railway line to the south, which runs parallel to the coast. Its beaches, including the nearby Ban Krut area, are popular with Thai visitors looking for quieter stretches of shoreline than the better-known resorts further north.
A Bang Saphan map poster is shaped by long parallel lines: the coast, the railway and the main highway, all running north to south. Between them, the town's streets form a modest grid, and the edges of the print open into sea and hill country.
A long, gently curving shoreline of beaches runs along the eastern edge of the map, broken by small river mouths.
The main line south passes through the district, drawing a straight line parallel to the coast and anchoring the town's layout.
Wooded hills towards the Myanmar border rise west of the plain, leaving that side of the poster calm and sparsely marked.
