Te mapa
Bassila is the main town of a large commune in the Donga Department of central Benin, close to the border with Togo. The surrounding area is one of the more wooded parts of the country, with gallery forests along the streams and farmland cleared between them. The town serves as a market and administrative centre for villages spread across this landscape.
The map shows a loose, low-density pattern. A main road crosses the town, and smaller streets and tracks branch off into neighbourhoods of compounds and gardens. The edges are soft rather than sharp: houses gradually give way to fields, woodland and footpaths leading toward outlying villages and streams.
A Bassila map poster reflects a town rooted in its landscape rather than set apart from it. The roads and paths, the clusters of buildings and the open green space around them form an organic, balanced composition. It works well as a minimal black-and-white print, and at larger sizes the finer tracks become visible.
The main road through Bassila is the strongest line on the map. It connects the town with neighbouring communities, and shops and services gather along it.
Homes are grouped in compounds with yards and gardens. This produces an irregular, cellular pattern of small blocks rather than a formal grid.
Around the town, the map opens into fields, woodland and stream valleys, crossed by tracks that lead to villages across the commune.

Koteā ko Bassila
For people from Bassila living in Cotonou, Parakou or abroad, a map of the town is a way to keep home close. It also makes a thoughtful gift for volunteers and researchers who spent time in the region.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a name, a date or a short dedication, and point the coordinates line to a family compound. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit your room.
