Te mapa
Bellwood is a village in Cook County, some thirteen miles west of downtown Chicago, in the belt of older suburbs between Maywood and Hillside. From above it is almost all grid. Residential streets run north to south and east to west in regular blocks lined with single-family houses, and the village merges into its neighbours with hardly a break.
The Union Pacific West line of the Metra commuter network crosses the village, and its station serves residents who work in the city. Rail corridors and industrial land make the main breaks in the grid, and the Eisenhower Expressway passes close by to the south. These add a few strong horizontal lines to the fine residential pattern.
Like many inner suburbs, Bellwood grew quickly in the first half of the twentieth century as rail and road links improved. A Bellwood map poster shows that ordered, walkable layout clearly. It can be framed on the village alone or pulled back to include the surrounding suburbs of Proviso Township.
Straight streets and regular blocks cover most of the village, creating an even, closely woven texture that suits a clean black-and-white print.
The Union Pacific West commuter line crosses Bellwood, and its right-of-way cuts a steady line through the grid toward downtown Chicago.
The expressway runs just south of the village as a broad band that frames the map and links the area to the city and the western suburbs.

Koteā ko Bellwood
Bellwood is a place of family homes, and many residents have ties that go back several generations. A map of its streets makes a thoughtful housewarming or graduation gift, or a reminder for those who moved away from the Chicago area.
Change the title, add a street name or a year to the subtitle, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then order an 18×24 or 24×36 inch print, or the digital files.
