Berezan lies east of Kyiv, in the flat, open farmland of Kyiv Oblast. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets with the typical Ukrainian mix of small houses on long garden plots. There are a few larger buildings near the centre, and the fields around it stretch in wide rectangles toward the horizon.
