Te mapa
Cabimas lies on the eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo in the Venezuelan state of Zulia, across the water from the city of Maracaibo. The town grows in a long strip beside the lake, with its main roads running roughly parallel to the shoreline and shorter streets reaching down to the water's edge.
Oil defines both the history and the shape of the place. In 1922 the Barroso II well at the nearby La Rosa field blew out and sprayed oil for days, a moment widely seen as the start of Venezuela's oil boom. Since then the town has spread outward around fields, pipelines and industrial yards.
The lake frontage is lined with piers and docks, and further out the water is dotted with production platforms. Inland, the grid loosens into scattered neighbourhoods and open land. A Cabimas map poster records the relationship between shoreline, settlement and industry that has shaped this stretch of the lake for over a century.
The eastern lakeshore forms a long, gently curving edge along one side of the map, with piers and docks projecting into the water at intervals.
Main routes follow the line of the lake, while cross streets run inland at right angles, creating a ladder-like pattern characteristic of this coast.
Around the built-up area, older oil field land breaks the street pattern into irregular parcels, leaving open spaces and access roads that hint at the industry beneath.

Koteā ko Cabimas
For families with roots in Zulia and oil workers who spent years on the eastern shore, Cabimas is a place with a strong personal story. A map can carry that story with a custom title, a subtitle naming a street or family, and a date.
