Te mapa
Maracaibo, capital of Zulia state, lies on the western shore of the strait that connects Lake Maracaibo with the Gulf of Venezuela. The lake spreads south of the city and is one of the largest bodies of water in South America. On a map it fills much of the frame, a vast plain of white or black against which the city's streets are set.
The General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge, opened in 1962, runs for more than eight kilometres across the water to the eastern shore. Its long line is one of the defining features of the region's map. The city grew rapidly after oil was found in the lake basin in the early twentieth century, and it is generally counted as Venezuela's second-largest city.
A Maracaibo map poster shows a city of long, straight avenues. The historic centre and the Basilica of Chiquinquirá sit near the waterfront, and newer districts spread north and west across flat, dry land. The lakeshore park, the Vereda del Lago, traces a green edge along the water.

The shoreline curves along the eastern edge of the city. The Vereda del Lago park and the port facilities near the historic centre trace it along the way.
Wide, straight avenues run inland from the lakeshore and divide the city into large blocks, which grow looser towards the northern and western outskirts.

Koteā ko Maracaibo
People from Maracaibo, known as maracuchos, are famously loyal to their city, and many now live far from it. A map with the lake and the bridge is recognisable at once and makes a fitting reminder of home.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for instance with a neighbourhood or a family date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and order a printed poster or a $9 HD download.
