Te mapa
Cần Giuộc lies on flat, low ground just south of Ho Chi Minh City. The area belonged to Long An province until the 2025 administrative reorganisation placed it within Tây Ninh. From above it is defined by water: the Cần Giuộc River and many smaller channels loop across the land, and roads and settlements follow the drier strips along their banks.
Vietnamese readers know the name from literature. After local fighters attacked French forces here in 1861, the poet Nguyễn Đình Chiểu wrote the Văn tế nghĩa sĩ Cần Giuộc, a funeral oration honouring the farmers who died, and it is still studied in schools. The surrounding land remains largely agricultural, with rice fields, ponds and orchards between the villages.
A Cần Giuộc map poster shows a landscape where water and land are closely intertwined. In black and white, the meandering rivers, the straight lines of dug canals and the thin threads of village roads become a delicate, almost botanical pattern. It looks very different from the dense grids of the city just to the north.
Tidal rivers wind through the area in tight loops. They set the boundaries of fields and neighbourhoods and give the map its most expressive lines.
Straight dug canals cross the curving natural channels at angles, a layer of human engineering over the delta that reads clearly from above.
Settlements string out along roads that follow the drier ground beside the water, so houses appear as thin ribbons rather than compact blocks.

Koteā ko Cần Giuộc
A map of Cần Giuộc speaks to people with roots in the southern delta, whether they now live in Saigon or much further away. It shows the rivers and roads of home without decoration, and it pairs well with a map of the city where life later carried on.
