Te mapa
Chongjin is a major port on the East Sea in North Hamgyong Province and one of the largest cities in North Korea. On a map it forms a long, narrow strip along the coast, with industrial zones, housing districts and port facilities arranged between the shoreline and steep hills rising inland.
The city is known as a centre of heavy industry, especially steel production, and large industrial complexes occupy broad sections of the urban area. Railways and roads run parallel to the coast, linking districts that are separated by rivers and ridges. The Susong River reaches the sea in the southern part of the city.
A Chongjin map poster shows a city defined by its setting: a long coastline, tight valleys and a clear division between the harbour and residential areas. Because information about the city is limited, the map itself becomes the most direct way to see its structure, laid out in clean lines and open spaces.
Chongjin follows the shoreline for many kilometres, with roads and railways running parallel to the sea.
Large factory complexes occupy big blocks of the city, forming solid shapes that contrast with residential streets.
Short rivers, including the Susong, cut through the city and divide it into distinct districts along the coast.
