Huadian is a county-level city in Jilin Province in northeast China. It lies in the hilly country of the Changbai Mountains foothills. The city centre sits in a river valley, and the map shows a compact urban core of regular blocks and main avenues, surrounded by hills, forests and farmland that climb away on all sides.
The Huifa River, a tributary of the Songhua, flows through the area, and the main streets follow the shape of the valley.
