Te mapa
Dambai sits on the shore of Lake Volta, the vast reservoir created by the Akosombo Dam. On the map the lake dominates, a broad expanse of water with an irregular, indented shoreline. The town spreads back from the water in a loose street pattern, with roads converging on the landing where ferries cross to the other side.
In 2019 Dambai became the capital of the newly created Oti Region, carved out of the northern part of the Volta Region. That new role has brought administrative buildings and new streets to what was a lakeside market town. The ferry is still central to daily life, connecting Dambai with communities across the water and with the road network beyond.
A Dambai map poster pairs a small, growing street network with one of the largest artificial lakes in the world. In black and white the shoreline takes on real weight. It's a map about arrival and crossing: roads coming down to the water, and the lake opening out beyond them.

Roads converge on the point where boats cross the lake. On the map it is a clear focal point where land traffic meets the water.
Since becoming the Oti regional capital, Dambai has been growing. New streets and plots extend the older core out into the surrounding savannah.
