Descalvado lies in the interior of São Paulo state, in a region of gently rolling farmland between larger cities. The town centre follows the regular grid typical of São Paulo's interior towns, with a church square at its heart and straight streets extending outward. As the town grows toward its edges, the grid loosens and adapts to the slopes and stream valleys around it.
The surrounding countryside is agricultural, a mix of plantations, pasture and lines of trees along watercourses.
