Te mapa
Discovery Bay is a residential town on the east coast of Lantau Island, facing Hong Kong Island across the water. It was developed from the late 1970s on a sheltered bay, and its plan is quite different from the dense grid of Kowloon. Curving roads wind up the slopes, and clusters of apartment blocks and low-rise villages sit against steep green hillsides.
The town is known for largely keeping private cars out. Residents get around on foot, by bus or by golf cart, and most commute on the ferry that runs from the central pier to Central on Hong Kong Island. On a map the pier, the plaza behind it and the sweep of Tai Pak Wan beach form the centre. A marina lies further north along the coast.
A Discovery Bay map poster places this small town between sea and mountain: the bay's shoreline, the winding lanes, the golf course on the high ground and the tunnel road leading toward Tung Chung. It suits anyone who has lived there, even for a few years, and remembers the ferry crossing as part of daily life.
The curved beach in front of the plaza is the town's natural centre. Its smooth arc is the most recognisable line on the map.
The central pier juts into the bay and links Discovery Bay to Central by ferry. It is a short, sharp stroke that carries much of the town's daily movement.
Roads loop up the slopes toward the golf course on the hills above. Their switchbacks give the upper part of the plan a loose, contour-like pattern.

Koteā ko Discovery Bay
Discovery Bay is a place people leave and still remember: the car-free lanes, the ferry, the beach at dusk. A map keeps those routes on the wall long after a move abroad.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with your block or the years you lived there, and choose one of five styles. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries, so the map can go wherever you've moved.
