Te mapa
Tuen Mun is one of Hong Kong's new towns, built from the 1970s onward in the western New Territories. Its layout follows a clear logic: the Tuen Mun River was channelled into a straight nullah running south to Castle Peak Bay, and high-rise estates, schools and shopping centres were arranged in orderly blocks on both sides of it, framed by steep green hills.
The Light Rail network adds a distinctive layer to the map, with tracks looping through the estates, crossing the river channel and connecting Tuen Mun with Yuen Long to the north. Along the coast, the town meets Castle Peak Bay with reclaimed waterfront, ferry piers and a promenade, while Tuen Mun Road winds east along the shoreline toward the urban areas.
The hills around the town include Castle Peak, with its old monastery on the slopes. A Tuen Mun map poster captures a very particular kind of Hong Kong landscape, where a dense, carefully planned town sits in a tight valley between mountains and sea, and the coastline and rail lines give the grid its shape.
The straightened Tuen Mun River runs through the middle of the town to the bay. It forms the axis of the plan, with estates and roads aligned on either side.
The Light Rail network weaves through the district in loops and junctions. On the poster its fine lines add rhythm and movement to the otherwise orderly blocks.
The town's southern edge meets Castle Peak Bay, with a reclaimed waterfront and piers. The bay gives the map a strong open edge facing the Pearl River estuary.

Koteā ko Tuen Mun
Tuen Mun is where many Hong Kong families have lived for decades, and people who move away often miss its familiar estates and walks along the bay. The map captures that planned, liveable scale in a few clear lines.
