Te mapa
Bao'an occupies the western side of Shenzhen, facing the broad waters of the Pearl River Estuary. On a map it forms a long band running north-west along the coast, with the shoreline straightened in many places by reclamation. Inland, industrial parks and residential districts fill the space in large, rectangular blocks laid along wide avenues.
Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport sits on reclaimed land along the coast, and its runways form one of the most distinct geometric shapes in the district. Low hills and reservoirs break the pattern further inland, leaving green gaps between the built-up areas. Major expressways run parallel to the shore, connecting the district to central Shenzhen and to the cities further up the estuary.
The name has deep roots in the area: Bao'an was historically the county from which the modern city of Shenzhen was created. A Bao'an map poster shows a fast-grown part of the Pearl River Delta, where engineered coastline and dense street grids meet open water along a single long edge.
Much of the shoreline has been built out into the estuary, creating long straight edges and sharp corners where land meets water.
The runways and terminal on the coast form a large, precise geometric shape, one of the most recognisable features on the district's map.
Hills and reservoirs to the east of the main built-up areas break the street grid, adding irregular open spaces to an otherwise dense district.

Koteā ko Bao'an
Many people have moved to Bao'an for work and built a life there, and a map of the district can mark that chapter clearly. Its straight shoreline and dense grids make a crisp, modern composition.
