Te mapa
Dzaoudzi occupies a small rock at the eastern edge of the Mayotte lagoon, off the larger island of Petite-Terre. From above its shape is unusual. A compact knot of streets sits on the islet and connects to Pamandzi by a narrow causeway, known locally as the Boulevard des Crabes. It reads as a single thin line across open water, and the town that surrounds it is marked mostly by the lagoon.
Dzaoudzi was the capital of Mayotte until administrative functions moved to Mamoudzou on Grande-Terre in the late 1970s, and older government buildings still stand on the rock. The ferry link between the two islands leaves from here, so the pier and the crossing towards Mamoudzou are an important part of the map. On the Petite-Terre side, the airport runway makes a long straight mark in the landscape.
A Dzaoudzi map poster is mostly about water and edges. The coastline around the rock is short and irregular, the causeway is a thin line, and the lagoon gives the page plenty of empty space. Nearby on Petite-Terre are the volcanic crater lake of Dziani Dzaha and the curve of the coast around Pamandzi, which balance the small, dense core.
A narrow road embankment joins the rock of Dzaoudzi to Petite-Terre. It is the defining line of the map, with water on both sides.
Boats between Petite-Terre and Grande-Terre leave from Dzaoudzi, making the pier the starting point of the crossing to Mamoudzou on the other side of the lagoon.
Mayotte's large enclosed lagoon surrounds the town. Its wide open water gives the poster a spacious, calm background in every style.

Koteā ko Dzaoudzi
People hang Dzaoudzi to remember a posting, a family link to Mayotte or time spent on the lagoon. A tiny islet, a thread of causeway and a lot of open water make an unusually striking minimalist print that looks good even at small sizes.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with an arrival date or a family name, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A free 900 px watermarked preview is available before you buy the $9 HD files or a printed, optionally framed poster.
