Te mapa
Elektrogorsk lies in the east of Moscow Oblast, surrounded by forest and wetland. The town grew up around one of the first power stations in Russia to burn peat, built in the 1910s by the engineer Robert Klasson. Its name, roughly translated as electric town, reflects that origin, and the station still sits at the heart of the settlement.
On a map, Elektrogorsk is defined by water. A large cooling lake lies next to the power plant, and smaller lakes and ponds left by peat extraction are scattered through the surrounding woodland. The town's streets fill the dry ground between them, with Soviet-era blocks in regular rows and lower housing on the outskirts.
An Elektrogorsk map poster records a place founded for a single industrial purpose and then shaped by the land around it. The lakes and bogs give the design broad, dark forms, while the grid of the residential districts adds order. In black and white, the pattern reads clearly and without unnecessary detail.
The early peat-fired plant that gave the town its name and reason to exist remains the anchor of the map, set beside its cooling water.
Water bodies of various sizes, many linked to past peat extraction, surround the town and break the forest into an irregular pattern.
Dense woodland encircles Elektrogorsk on all sides, giving the town a clear, self-contained outline on the page.
