Te mapa
Farroupilha lies in the Serra Gaúcha, the hilly highland of northern Rio Grande do Sul settled largely by Italian immigrants from the 1870s. On a map the town has a regular centre of rectangular blocks, but its outer neighbourhoods and rural roads bend to follow ridges and valleys, and small farming communities are dotted across the countryside around it.
The town is often described as the cradle of Italian colonisation in the state, since some of the first immigrant families settled in the area that is now Farroupilha. Its name recalls the Farroupilha Revolution, the nineteenth-century regional uprising. Today it is known as a centre of knitwear production, with textile businesses spread through its streets.
A few kilometres from the centre stands the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Caravaggio, one of the major pilgrimage sites of southern Brazil, reached by a road through the hills. A Farroupilha map poster shows this pattern of compact town and rural lanes, with roads leading on to neighbouring Serra towns such as Caxias do Sul and Bento Gonçalves.
The town centre follows a clear grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks, laid out on higher ground and easy to read at any scale.
A road winds from the town into the countryside toward the Caravaggio sanctuary, drawing a long, curving line through farmland and wooded valleys.
Beyond the centre, rural roads trace ridges and slopes rather than a grid, giving the edges of the poster a looser, branching pattern.

Koteā ko Farroupilha
Families with roots in the Italian colonies of the Serra, pilgrims to Caravaggio and people who grew up in Farroupilha will recognise its compact centre and the roads leading into the hills. For many in southern Brazil, it is simply a map of home.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps to a family name or the year your ancestors arrived, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, framed or unframed.
