Te mapa
Ferreñafe lies on the coastal plain of Lambayeque in northern Peru, a short distance north-east of Chiclayo. From above, the town is a fairly regular grid of blocks centred on a main plaza. Around it, the dry coastal desert has been turned into farmland, divided into fields and crossed by irrigation channels.
The town is known as the land of double faith, a phrase that refers to the coexistence of Catholic devotion and older local traditions. It is also home to the Museo Nacional Sicán, which presents finds from the Sicán culture that flourished in this region before the Inca, including material from the nearby Batán Grande area.
A Ferreñafe map poster shows the tight urban grid, the roads toward Chiclayo and the countryside, and the geometric pattern of fields around the town. It is a clean, structured map for anyone connected to Lambayeque or interested in the ancient cultures of Peru's north coast.
The centre follows a regular pattern of blocks around the main square and church. It is the densest and most orderly part of the map.
Canals and field boundaries divide the surrounding plain into many rectangles and strips. The result is a woven texture that frames the town.
A main road links Ferreñafe with the regional capital to the south-west. It forms a strong line leading out of the grid across the plain.
