Te mapa
Francistown lies in northeastern Botswana near the border with Zimbabwe, on the banks of the Tati River. From above, the city is laid out on fairly flat ground, with a central business district next to the railway and residential suburbs spreading out in wide, regular blocks. The river and its dry sandy bed curve through the city, creating a clear natural divider.
The town grew out of the gold discoveries in the Tati area in the second half of the nineteenth century, one of the earliest gold rushes in southern Africa. It became a railway town on the line to Bulawayo, and today it is the country's second city and a major trading hub for the north.
A Francistown map poster shows that mix of history and planning: the railway line drawn straight through the centre, main roads leaving in several directions, the river meandering between districts, and orderly suburbs around them. The balance between straight lines and river curves gives the print a relaxed, well-proportioned look.
The river winds through the city in a broad, often dry channel, shown as a sweeping curve that separates neighbourhoods on each bank.
The line to Bulawayo passes directly by the business district, a long straight stroke that shaped the city's early growth.
Residential areas spread out in generous blocks with wide roads, giving the outer map a regular, open texture.

Koteā ko Francistown
The poster suits anyone who grew up in Francistown or worked in the north, and it marks the country's second city clearly. The river and railway give the design both a natural and an industrial line.
Add a personal title and subtitle, a date and your coordinates line. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand reflects the dry riverbed and surrounding landscape especially well.
