Te mapa
Fronan is a town in the Vallée du Bandama district in the centre of Ivory Coast, in the savanna belt between the forested south and the drier north. The landscape around it is open, with farmland, grassland and scattered trees. From above, the town is a cluster of streets and compounds from which roads extend into the surrounding countryside.
The layout is less regular than a planned grid, with streets of different widths and directions reflecting gradual growth. Towards the edges, houses thin out into fields and tracks. The Bandama River, which gives the district its name, runs through the region, and the wider landscape is gently rolling.
A Fronan map poster presents a place that rarely appears on printed maps, in a clean and respectful form: the town's own pattern of streets and the calm spaces around it. It is intended for people from Fronan and for families who have moved to Abidjan, Bouaké or abroad but carry the town with them.
The town's streets grew gradually, forming an irregular, lived-in pattern that gives the centre of the map its character.
Around the town, the land opens into savanna and farmland, leaving wide calm areas that set off the built-up centre.
Several roads run out from Fronan towards other towns in central Ivory Coast, adding long lines that anchor the town in its landscape.
