Te mapa
Fruit Cove is a community in St. Johns County, Florida, south of Jacksonville on the east bank of the St. Johns River. The river is very wide at this point, and on a map it fills one side of the frame. Inland, the land is covered by residential subdivisions, each with its own loops, cul-de-sacs and small lakes.
The area developed rapidly as a suburban community, and its road pattern reflects that history. Rather than a grid, main roads carry traffic between neighbourhoods, while each subdivision has its own internal network of curving streets. Creeks and wetlands, including the Julington Creek area to the north, break the pattern with irregular natural shapes.
A Fruit Cove map poster turns the typical Florida suburb into an elegant pattern: branching streets like leaves, retention ponds as small solid shapes and the broad river edge running along one side. The result is a surprisingly graphic image of a place many people call home.
The wide river forms the western boundary, a large area of open water that gives the map a strong, clean edge.
Subdivisions fill the land with curving streets and dead ends, creating a leaf-like pattern of branches off the main roads.
Creeks, wetlands and retention ponds appear throughout, irregular natural forms set among the planned streets.
