Te mapa
Georgetown is the largest community in the Town of Halton Hills, west of Toronto. It sits on and around the valley of the Credit River and Silver Creek, and on a map the wooded ravines are the defining feature. Green, winding bands of valley cut through the town, and the streets have to go around them or cross them on bridges.
The historic centre, around Main Street, has an older grid of short blocks and mature trees. Newer subdivisions spread out beyond it, with the curving streets and crescents typical of the Toronto region. The rail line through the town carries GO Transit trains towards Toronto, and it has long linked Georgetown to the growing city.
North-west along the Credit lies the old village of Glen Williams, still separated from the town by open land. A Georgetown map poster shows a small Ontario town shaped by its river: the valleys give it structure, the old centre gives it character, and the newer neighbourhoods fill the land in between.
The Credit and Silver Creek run through wooded ravines that cut across the town. On the map they are winding green corridors with no streets in them.
The historic core has short, regular blocks around Main Street. It is the town's densest and oldest pattern, and it sits near the centre of the map.
The railway runs through Georgetown in a long, gentle line. It is the town's link to Toronto and a clear reference line on the print.
