Te mapa
Glendale Heights sits in DuPage County, west of Chicago, in the belt of postwar suburbs that grew along the old farm roads. From above the village reads as a patchwork of residential pockets, each with its own curving streets and cul-de-sacs, held together by straight section-line roads running north–south and east–west. The contrast between the loose inner loops and the rigid outer grid is what gives the map its rhythm.
Water appears in small, scattered shapes rather than one dominant river: stormwater ponds, a golf course laced with ponds, and green strips that follow drainage lines. Commercial frontage lines the main arterials, so the busiest roads show up as broad bands with larger building footprints, while the neighbourhoods behind them fill in with the fine texture of single-family lots and apartment courts.
The village was incorporated in 1959 and grew quickly over the following decades, which explains how consistent its street patterns look. A Glendale Heights map poster captures that suburban logic cleanly: the loops, the ponds and the long arterials rendered in fine black lines, with enough surrounding context to show how the village meets its neighbours along shared boundary roads.
Residential streets curl into loops and dead ends inside each block of the arterial grid, giving the map a fingerprint-like texture that contrasts with the straight roads around it.
Instead of a river, the village is dotted with retention ponds and small lakes, including those on a golf course, which appear as soft white shapes among the streets.
Long, straight county roads mark out a square-mile rhythm inherited from the prairie survey, forming the strong lines that divide the village into distinct neighbourhoods.

Koteā ko Glendale Heights
For people who grew up here or bought a first home in one of these subdivisions, the map is a precise record of a very specific place: the loop you walked, the pond at the end of the street. It works well in a hallway or home office, quiet enough to sit beside other framed pieces.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a street name or a year, and the coordinates line, then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the $9 HD files in six sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
