Te mapa
Glenview lies in the northern suburbs of Chicago, a few miles inland from Lake Michigan. Its map mixes several patterns: older grid streets near the historic centre, curving cul-de-sacs in postwar subdivisions, and wide green spaces taken up by golf courses, forest preserves and parks. The North Branch of the Chicago River and its tributaries wind through parts of the area, adding irregular green corridors.
For much of the twentieth century, a large part of Glenview was occupied by Naval Air Station Glenview, which closed in the 1990s. The site has since been redeveloped as The Glen, a mix of homes, shops, parkland and water, and its planned layout is clearly visible from above. Glenview is also served by Metra trains into Chicago.
A Glenview map poster shows how a suburb has grown in layers: the straight lines of the rail corridor and early streets, the looping roads of later neighbourhoods, and the ordered plan of the former airfield. In black and white, the golf courses and preserves become calm open shapes that balance the dense residential texture around them.
The former naval air station has been rebuilt as a planned district, and its streets and open spaces follow a layout clearly different from the older town.
Golf courses, parks and forest preserves occupy large parts of the map, appearing as broad, quiet open areas between the residential neighbourhoods.
Postwar neighbourhoods use looping streets and cul-de-sacs, a softer pattern that contrasts with the straight main roads and the Metra rail line.

Koteā ko Glenview
Glenview is a place where people tend to stay, and many families have raised children here or grown up on its quiet streets. A map of the village makes a thoughtful gift for a housewarming, a graduation or a move away from the area.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with your street or the year you moved in, and pick one of five styles. Download the HD files for $9, or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
