Te mapa
Greenville is the largest city in eastern North Carolina and the seat of Pitt County. It sits on the south bank of the Tar River, on the flat coastal plain, where the river forms the city's northern edge and its floodplain remains largely green.
From above, the compact downtown grid sits close to the river, with the Town Common, a long riverside park, running along the water. Immediately east lies the main campus of East Carolina University, its quads and buildings forming a large, distinct block. Further out, the medical district and suburban neighbourhoods spread south and west along wide arterial roads.
Greenville was long a major tobacco market town, and today its economy is shaped largely by the university and its medical school and hospital. A Greenville map poster shows that shift in physical form: an older downtown by the river, an expansive campus and a city that has grown outward across the plain.
The river curves along the northern edge of the city, and its wide, mostly undeveloped floodplain forms a soft natural boundary on the poster.
East Carolina University's main campus sits beside downtown, its quads, paths and buildings reading as a large, finely detailed block.
The riverside park between downtown and the Tar gives the city a green front to the water and a clear open space on the map.

For ECU graduates, the map marks years spent on campus and nearby streets; for families, it marks a home on the coastal plain. Either way, the river and the grid make a clean, readable composition.
