Te mapa
Guastatoya is the capital of El Progreso department in eastern Guatemala, lying beside the Atlantic highway that runs from Guatemala City toward the Caribbean coast. The town occupies part of the Motagua valley, one of the driest landscapes in the country, where thorn scrub and cactus cover the hills. Its centre follows the familiar colonial pattern of a regular grid around a central plaza and church.
Around that core, the grid loosens as it meets the terrain, with streets curving along the valley floor and roads climbing toward outlying communities. Guastatoya has gained a wider profile in recent years through its football club, Deportivo Guastatoya, which has won national league titles and brought a small departmental capital into the country's sporting headlines.
A Guastatoya map poster sets the tidy central grid against a spare, open landscape. The highway makes a long confident stroke across the frame, the plaza anchors the middle, and the dry hills leave calm areas of blank space around it. The result is compact and well balanced, closely matching the scale of the town itself.
The historic centre is a regular grid of blocks around the plaza and church, the clearest geometric feature on the map and the heart of daily life in town.
The main route between Guatemala City and the Caribbean passes the town, drawing a long line that links Guastatoya to the rest of the Motagua valley.
The semi-arid hills around the town carry few roads, so the map shows a compact settlement framed by broad, open ground.
