Te mapa
Guazacapán is a municipality in the Santa Rosa Department of southeastern Guatemala, on the lowlands that descend from the volcanic highlands toward the Pacific. The town centre is laid out on a colonial-style grid of square blocks around a central plaza, and its streets fade into fields and pasture at the edges.
The municipality reaches toward the coast, and the surrounding landscape is shaped by rivers draining south to the ocean. On the map the town itself is small and orderly, while the wider area shows scattered roads, farm tracks and waterways crossing a gently sloping plain between the hills and the sea.
Guazacapán is known as one of the historical homes of the Xinca people, and its local variety of the Xinca language has been documented by linguists. A Guazacapán map poster gives this modest town a clear graphic presence, with the regularity of its grid set against the looser patterns of the countryside.
The town centre follows a regular pattern of square blocks around a main plaza, a layout common to Guatemalan towns that becomes crisp and balanced in a black-and-white print.
South of the town the land falls gently toward the Pacific coast. Rivers and streams cross this plain, adding curving lines to the otherwise sparse surroundings.
Roads and tracks radiate from the town to villages and farms across the municipality, giving the map a web of thin lines around the dense centre.

Koteā ko Guazacapán
For Guatemalans living abroad and families with roots in Santa Rosa, this is a way to bring the home town into the present, not as a photograph but as a clean drawing of the streets they know.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can carry a name, a year or a short phrase in Spanish. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; the warmer Paper and Sand styles suit the town's lowland setting.
