Te mapa
This Gudalur lies in Theni district in southwestern Tamil Nadu, at the southern end of the Cumbum Valley. The Western Ghats rise sharply to the west, and the Kerala border runs along the hills close by. On a map, the town sits on the flat valley floor, with its streets gathered along the main road and a steep, empty band of hills just beyond its edge.
The town is on the route that climbs from the plains towards Kumily and Thekkady on the Kerala side, so it has long served as a stop between the two states. The surrounding valley is farmed intensively, and the map shows fields and irrigation channels reaching right up to the town before the land rises into the forested slopes.
A Gudalur map poster captures that sharp change between flat, busy lowland and the empty wall of hills. The town's dense core stands out against open fields on one side and mountain terrain on the other, and the main road threads through it all. In black and white, the design becomes a clear picture of a town standing where the plains stop.
To the west, the Western Ghats rise abruptly. On the poster, the built-up area stops where the slopes begin, creating a strong edge between town and hills.
A main road runs through Gudalur towards the Kerala border and up into the hills, forming the backbone around which the town's streets are organised.
The Cumbum Valley floor around the town is farmed, and field boundaries and channels form a fine pattern that frames the dense centre.
