Te mapa
Hatti lies in Raichur district in northeastern Karnataka, on the dry Deccan plateau. The town grew around the Hutti Gold Mines, and its map shows it. Mine shafts, processing works and company housing colonies form distinct blocks. Around them is a looser pattern of older streets and the open, rocky land typical of the region.
Hutti is one of the few places in India where gold is still mined commercially, and the deposits were worked long before modern times. Today a state-owned company runs the mines. Much of the town's layout, including housing, schools and other facilities, has grown around the operation's needs.
A Hatti map poster captures a working industrial town: planned colonies with regular streets, large compounds for the mine and its plant, and roads leading out across the plain to nearby villages. Rocky outcrops and tanks break up the open land, so the print mixes geometric order with natural irregularity.
The gold mine's shafts, plant and related facilities cover large, clearly defined areas. They are the most distinctive shapes on the map.
Housing built for mine workers and staff is laid out in regular rows and blocks. The pattern is orderly and distinct from the older parts of town.
Around the town, flat, rocky terrain is crossed by roads and dotted with tanks, which gives the wider map an open, spacious feel.

Koteā ko Hatti
Generations of families have worked in and around the Hutti mines, and a map of the town is a way to honour that heritage. It also appeals to geologists, engineers and anyone interested in mining towns and how they are laid out.
Add a family name, the year someone joined the mine or a message to the title and subtitle, edit the coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 in six print sizes, and matte prints are available with an optional wooden frame.
