Te mapa
Heredia sits in the Central Valley, just north of San José, on the lower slopes that rise toward the volcanoes of the Cordillera Central. Its historic core is laid out as a clear Spanish colonial grid, with square blocks arranged around a central park, church and the small colonial tower known as El Fortín.
Often called the City of Flowers, Heredia has long been linked to coffee growing on the surrounding slopes. It is also home to the Universidad Nacional, whose campus adds a distinct block of academic buildings and open ground to the city plan.
A Heredia map poster shows the grid in its full regularity, with the central square as its anchor. Toward the edges the pattern loosens where the city merges with neighbouring towns, and the roads to the north begin to follow the contours of the hills.
Evenly sized blocks and straight streets form one of the clearest grids in the Central Valley, making the centre especially legible on a black-and-white map.
The park, church and El Fortín occupy the heart of the grid, a single open block that the rest of the city is measured from.
The Universidad Nacional occupies a larger, less regular area near the centre, where paths and buildings interrupt the surrounding street pattern.

Koteā ko Heredia
Heredia holds meaning for students of the Universidad Nacional, coffee-country families and anyone who has lived in the Central Valley. The strong grid makes an elegant, architectural print for a modern interior.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a graduation year or the date you arrived. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand for the final design.
