Te mapa
Lake Managua, also called Xolotlán, is a broad lake in western Nicaragua. The city of Managua spreads along its southern shore, so one side of the map is dense with streets while the northern shore remains open. The lake's outline is wide and irregular, with a few bays and peninsulas along its edges.
At its northwestern end the Momotombo volcano rises close to the shore, one of the country's best-known peaks. The lake drains southeast through the Tipitapa River into the much larger Lake Nicaragua, linking the two in one system. The Chiltepe peninsula, with its crater lagoons, projects into the water near the capital.
A Lake Managua map poster brings together city and volcanic landscape in a single frame. The contrast between the fine grid of Managua and the empty water beside it gives the composition weight on one side, and the long shoreline curves pull the eye toward the northwest.

The lake drains southeast through the Tipitapa River toward Lake Nicaragua, a thin connecting line between two great bodies of water.
