Te mapa
Soyapango lies just east of San Salvador, forming part of the continuous urban area of the capital. On the map it appears as a dense patchwork of residential colonias, each with its own small grid of streets, fitted together across rolling ground. Larger roads cut across the pattern, carrying traffic between the city centre and the eastern parts of the country.
The terrain is uneven, with gullies and slopes that break up the street network and leave narrow strips of green. Industrial areas and commercial centres line the main routes, while the residential districts fill the spaces between. The volcanic landscape of central El Salvador is never far away, and the land rises toward the hills around the metropolitan area.
A Soyapango map poster records one of the largest municipalities in the San Salvador metropolitan area. Its map is less about a single centre and more about the many neighbourhoods that make up daily life. From above, the mosaic of colonias and the roads linking them create an intricate, closely woven design.
Dozens of residential neighbourhoods, each with its own compact street layout, fit together to form the dense fabric that fills most of the map.
Main roads cross the municipality between San Salvador and the east, drawn as long, strong lines through the smaller streets.
Uneven terrain cuts through the urban area, leaving thin green corridors and curving streets where the ground drops away.
