Te mapa
Siguatepeque sits in the central highlands of Honduras, more than a kilometre above sea level and surrounded by pine-covered hills. The town grew in a broad upland basin. From above, its centre is a fairly regular grid that loosens towards the edges, where the streets begin to wander with the terrain and meet patches of forest.
Its position explains much of its growth. The CA-5 highway, the main road between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, passes the town, which makes it a natural stopping point between the capital and the north. The climate is noticeably cooler than in the lowlands, and that has long drawn people to settle here or to visit.
The town is also closely tied to forestry and is home to the national forestry school, which suits a place so thoroughly framed by pines. A Siguatepeque map poster shows that framing clearly: an orderly centre, the long line of the highway, and softer, irregular edges where the town turns into hillside.
The core of the town follows a simple grid of blocks around the central area. In black and white it gives the poster a calm, orderly centre of gravity.
The national highway between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula runs along the town. It is a long, confident line that contrasts with the smaller local streets branching off it.
At the outskirts, the streets thin out and curve into the pine-covered hills. This fraying edge gives the design a gentle, natural border instead of a hard frame.

Koteā ko Siguatepeque
Siguatepeque is a place people remember for its cool air and pine hills, whether they grew up there, studied forestry or stopped on the road north. The map is a restrained way to keep that memory on a wall far from Honduras.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a year or a family name, and adjust the coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
