Piers and container terminals reach into the bay in bold, straight shapes. They look almost architectural on the poster and contrast with the smaller residential blocks inland.

Te mapa
Puerto Cortés, often written Puerto Cortez, is the main seaport of Honduras. It is one of the busiest container ports in Central America. From above, the town sits on a strip of land with open water on both sides. Deep water on the Caribbean side has made it the country's main door to the sea for well over a century.
On one side is the bay, lined with long piers, container yards and port roads laid out in straight, heavy lines. On the other is the Laguna de Alvarado, a calm lagoon with a softer, irregular shore. The residential streets run between the two, in a modest grid that ends at the water in both directions.
A Puerto Cortez map poster shows water on both sides of the town, harbour on one edge and lagoon on the other. Shipping lines, rail spurs and warehouse blocks sit beside ordinary neighbourhood streets. Few places this size show on a map so plainly that they are built around the sea.
Piers and container terminals reach into the bay in bold, straight shapes. They look almost architectural on the poster and contrast with the smaller residential blocks inland.
Behind the town, the lagoon's quiet, curving shoreline creates a second waterfront. It gives the map a balance of water on both sides of the built-up strip.
The street grid fills the land between bay and lagoon. On the printed map this makes a strong outline, with the town clearly held between two edges of water.
