Te mapa
Mejicanos lies directly north of central San Salvador and forms part of the capital's metropolitan area. The ground rises steadily here, and the map reflects it. Streets crowd onto the slopes in a close, irregular pattern, with narrow ravines cutting between neighbourhoods and interrupting the flow of roads.
Mejicanos is among the most densely populated municipalities in El Salvador, and on the map the built-up area covers nearly every piece of usable land. Main roads link it to the centre of San Salvador to the south, while smaller streets branch up the hillsides, often ending where the terrain becomes too steep.
A Mejicanos map poster shows the tight texture of a hillside community, with fine lanes and the darker lines of main roads through the middle. Ravines appear as thin gaps winding through the pattern, a record of how the city grew around the landscape instead of flattening it. It is a detailed, personal view of a neighbourhood many families know well.
Closely packed streets cover the slopes, making Mejicanos one of the most intricate street patterns in the metropolitan area.
Narrow gullies wind between neighbourhoods, leaving thin open spaces that break the dense urban texture.
Main roads run south into central San Salvador, forming the strongest lines through the municipality.
