Te mapa
Iperó is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, a short distance from Sorocaba. Its urban area is compact, with a mostly regular grid of streets set among rolling farmland, forest remnants and rural roads. The Sorocaba River passes through the municipality, and on the map its winding course adds a strong natural line to the otherwise orderly pattern of blocks.
Much of the surrounding land belongs to the Ipanema National Forest, a protected area that also preserves the ruins of the Real Fábrica de Ferro São João de Ipanema, one of the earliest iron works in Brazil, dating from the early nineteenth century. The municipality is also home to the Aramar Experimental Centre of the Brazilian Navy, a site linked to its nuclear programme.
An Iperó map poster captures the balance between small-town grid and open landscape. The dense rectangle of streets sits alongside large green areas, farm tracks and railway lines that once served the region's industry. In black and white, the fine texture of forest and fields surrounds the town like a margin, drawing the eye toward its compact centre.
The town's centre follows a mostly regular grid, a neat block of streets that stands out clearly against the countryside around it.
The protected forest covers a large area near the town and holds the remains of a historic iron foundry, adding broad, textured green space to the map.
The river winds through the municipality in slow bends, introducing an organic curve that contrasts with the straight lines of the urban grid.
