Te mapa
Ippy lies in the Ouaka prefecture of the Central African Republic, in the wide savanna belt that stretches across the centre of the country. From above, it is a loose settlement of streets and compounds at a meeting point of roads, surrounded by open grassland, scattered trees and cultivated plots.
The layout is shaped by movement between regions. Main routes pass through the town and continue toward other settlements across the savanna, and the built-up area gathers around them. Beyond the centre, the street pattern thins quickly into tracks and fields, and the landscape opens up in every direction.
An Ippy map poster shows this simple, open structure: a cluster of streets, a few strong roads leaving the town and a great deal of empty space around it. It is a quiet image, and for someone with a connection to Ouaka, it is a plain and faithful portrait of a place that rarely appears on printed maps.
Main routes meet in the town and carry on across the savanna, giving the map a clear star-like structure centred on the settlement.
The built-up area spreads out gradually rather than packing into a dense core, so the map has a light, open texture.
Beyond the town, tracks and fields give way to open grassland, leaving generous blank space around the streets.
