Te mapa
Carnot lies in the south-west of the Central African Republic, in a landscape of forest, savanna patches and river valleys, and is the main town of Mambéré prefecture. From above it has an open, spacious layout: dirt and laterite roads branch between low-density neighbourhoods, and the built-up area fades gradually into gardens and bush rather than stopping at a clear edge.
The surrounding region is known for artisanal diamond mining, which has shaped the local economy and drawn people to the town over decades. Carnot also acts as a market and transport centre for the surrounding countryside and villages, so its main roads carry more significance than their modest width might suggest.
A Carnot map poster translates this loose pattern into fine, calm lines. Main routes stand out as clear strokes, local tracks thin into a delicate web, and open land frames the town on every side. It is an unusual, understated image, far from the dense grids of large cities, and specific to a place rarely seen on a wall.
A few principal routes pass through the town, drawn as the strongest lines on the poster and linking Carnot with the wider south-west of the country.
Between the main roads, narrower tracks form an irregular mesh around houses and compounds, a light texture that gives the map its airy character.
Beyond the built-up area the street network thins quickly into countryside, leaving generous open space around the town in the composition.

Koteā ko Carnot
For people from Carnot, aid and mission workers who spent time there, or families with ties to the region, a map of the town is a rare object. Little is printed about places like this, so a clean map becomes a personal record.
Add a title, a subtitle with the years you lived there or a meaningful date, and a coordinates line. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the HD files for $9 or order a print.
