Te mapa
Itatiba lies in the interior of São Paulo state, between the larger cities of Campinas and Jundiaí, in a landscape of rolling hills. It grew from an early settlement, and its map shows a small historic centre with a few straight streets. Newer neighbourhoods surround it, curving to follow the uneven ground.
The Atibaia River passes along the northern side of the municipality, and smaller streams drain through its valleys, leaving green gaps between built-up areas. Many outer districts are residential estates and country properties. Their looping roads produce the soft, irregular shapes that give an Itatiba map poster its distinctive character.
Highways connect the town to São Paulo and Campinas, and industry has settled along these routes, adding larger rectangular sites to the edges of the map. Itatiba has long been known in the region for furniture making. Today it combines that industrial side with a quieter role as a place to live within reach of the big cities.
A small core of older streets and squares around the main church forms the most regular part of the town before the hills take over.
Residential estates on the surrounding hills use looping roads and cul-de-sacs, which look almost hand-drawn on the map next to the older straight streets.
The river winds through the northern side of the municipality, and its meanders and bankside vegetation form the longest natural line on the print.
