Izunokuni lies at the northern base of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. It was formed in 2005 when three towns merged: Nirayama, Izunagaoka and Ohito. The Kano River runs through the city northward toward Numazu. Wooded hills rise on both sides of the valley, so the built-up land stretches out in a long, narrow band.
The city's best-known site is the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace, built in the 1850s to cast iron cannon. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution. Izunagaoka is a long-established hot-spring area, and on clear days the higher ground gives views toward Mount Fuji.
An Izunokuni map poster follows that valley shape closely. The river and the railway run in parallel through the middle of the frame. Small street grids cluster around the former town centres, and the hills close in from east and west. In the finished print it is easy to see the three original towns strung along one watercourse.

The 1850s reverberatory furnace in Nirayama is a UNESCO-listed industrial heritage site. It sits at the edge of the old town among fields and low hills.
Izunagaoka's onsen district forms a small knot of winding streets against the hillside, set a little apart from the grid near the river.

Koteā ko Izunokuni
Izunokuni is a place people often visit for a quiet weekend of hot springs and views of Fuji. A poster of the valley is a considered souvenir of a stay there, and it also suits people who grew up in any of the three former towns.
You can add a title such as the name of the inn, a subtitle with the dates of the stay, and your own coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
