Te mapa
Kaili is the capital of the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in southeastern Guizhou. Like many cities on the Guizhou plateau, it fills a valley hemmed in by steep, forested hills. From above, its streets follow the land: long roads along the valley floor, shorter streets climbing the slopes, and districts spreading wherever the terrain allows.
The city is a regional centre for Miao and Dong communities and a starting point for visits to villages such as Xijiang, known for its wooden stilt houses and festivals. Kaili's own calendar includes large gatherings for the Lusheng festival. On the map, the modern core gives way quickly to the ridges and terraced land that surround it.
A Kaili map poster shows how a city settles into steep country. Hills leave distinct blank areas, roads snake between them, and the built-up area takes on an irregular, branching outline. In black and white, the contrast between dense streets and empty slopes gives the composition real depth.
The main city spreads along the flat valley bottom, where the densest streets and widest avenues form a long, uneven band.
Streets bend and loop as they climb the surrounding slopes, and their curves stand out clearly against the regular blocks below.
Steep, wooded hills interrupt the urban area and leave open spaces within and around the city, which give the poster a sense of relief and balance.
