Te mapa
Kan’onjichō lies on the western coast of Kagawa prefecture, on the island of Shikoku, facing the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea. From above, the town spreads across a coastal plain where the Saita River reaches the sea. A long sandy shoreline runs along the west, rice fields and orchards lie inland, and forested hills close off the view further back.
It is best known for Zenigata, a giant outline of an old Kan’ei Tsūhō coin shaped in the sand at Kotohiki Park. Seen from the hill above, it appears as a perfect circle. The town is also a stop on the Shikoku pilgrimage, with two of its eighty-eight temples sharing a single precinct near Kotohiki Hachimangū shrine.
A Kan’onjichō map poster shows how closely the town is bound to its coast. The river mouth, the curve of the beach and the wooded rise of Kotohiki Park frame a compact grid of streets. The railway and roads run along the plain toward neighbouring towns. It is a calm, balanced composition, much like the Inland Sea itself.
The wooded hill beside the river mouth holds the park, the shrine and the famous sand coin, forming a distinct green mass at the edge of the sea.
The river crosses the town before meeting the Inland Sea, adding a strong line to the map and a broad opening where it reaches the shore.
A long, gently curving coast faces west across the Seto Inland Sea, giving the map a clean edge against open water.

Pilgrims on the Shikoku route, visitors who climbed the hill to see the sand coin and families from Kagawa all have reasons to keep this map. It captures a small coastal town with unusual clarity and restraint.
