Te mapa
Katiola sits in the Vallée du Bandama District of central Ivory Coast, on the main road running north from Bouaké. From above, it is a spread-out town on fairly level savanna land, with the highway passing through and a network of streets extending into residential quarters on each side.
The town is the capital of the Hambol region and is well known for its pottery, a craft carried on for generations by local women potters. That tradition has made the name Katiola familiar well beyond the region, and it remains part of the town's identity today.
A Katiola map poster shows a place where town and landscape meet without much ceremony. The street network is loose and open, with larger blocks and unbuilt land between neighbourhoods, and the northern highway gives the whole map a strong vertical line. It is a calm, spacious composition that reflects the savanna setting.
The main road north from Bouaké runs through Katiola, providing a strong axis around which the rest of the street network is arranged.
Residential areas spread across the savanna with generous gaps between them, giving the map an airy pattern of streets and open ground.
As the seat of the Hambol region, the town holds administrative and market areas near its centre, where the street network becomes denser.
