Kodur lies in Malappuram district in northern Kerala, not far from Malappuram town. Like much of this part of the state, it doesn't have a sharply defined centre. Instead, homes and small clusters of shops spread along roads and lanes through a landscape of low hills, coconut palms and paddy fields.
