Te mapa
Koduvayur is a town in Palakkad district, in the part of Kerala that opens toward the gap in the Western Ghats. The land here is flatter and drier than on the coast, and wide paddy fields surround the settlements. On a map, the town shows as a loose network of roads and lanes. It is less a tight core than a spread of houses along the routes.
Rice cultivation shapes the whole scene. The fields form broad open areas crossed by bunds and narrow paths, and coconut palms line the edges of the homesteads. Small tanks and channels hold water for the crops. Roads follow the higher ground between the fields, which gives the street pattern its gentle, unplanned curves.
A Koduvayur map poster captures the rural texture of central Kerala, a place where settlement and farmland are woven closely together. In black and white, the fields become calm open shapes. The roads connecting the town to neighbouring villages and to Palakkad give the composition its structure.
Wide rice fields stretch around the town. On the map they read as open spaces between clusters of houses, divided by the fine lines of bunds and field paths.
Homes and shops spread along the main roads instead of gathering in a single dense centre, a pattern common across rural Kerala.
Small ponds and irrigation channels are scattered through the landscape. They store water for farming and add small, distinct shapes to the map.
