Te mapa
Goseong County, often spelled Kosong, lies on the east coast of Gangwon Province, at the northern edge of South Korea next to the demilitarised zone. From above, a narrow strip of coastline runs north to south, dotted with small towns, beaches and lagoons, while the Taebaek mountains rise steeply to the west.
The county is known for Hwajinpo, a large coastal lagoon, and for the Goseong Unification Observatory, from which visitors look north toward the mountains and coast of North Korea. Fishing ports and beach resorts line the shore, and the area is also a gateway to the Seoraksan region further south.
A Kosong map poster captures a landscape where mountains meet the sea. The coastline draws a strong line along one side of the frame, lagoons appear as smooth open shapes, and roads and valleys lead inland toward the ridges. It is a clean, striking composition with a sense of the frontier.
The coast forms the most striking line on the map, with beaches, small ports and headlands running along the eastern edge.
Lagoons such as Hwajinpo sit just inland from the sea, appearing as smooth, open shapes separated from the water by narrow strips of land.
To the west, roads follow valleys into the Taebaek mountains, creating winding lines that contrast with the straight coastal road.

For people who holidayed on its beaches, served near the border or have family roots in the county, a map of Kosong is a quiet reminder of the coast and mountains.
