Te mapa
Kowloon Tong is a residential area in central Kowloon, Hong Kong, and one of the most unusual places in the city. Instead of the dense towers found nearby, it is made up largely of low-rise houses and villas with gardens, set along curving, tree-lined streets. On the map it appears as a pocket of calm, fine-grained texture surrounded by much denser districts.
The district was developed in the early twentieth century as a garden city, and height limits linked to the former Kai Tak Airport helped keep buildings low for decades. Many of its streets carry the names of English counties, such as Kent Road, Cumberland Road and Somerset Road, a detail that gives the local map a distinctive vocabulary.
Kowloon Tong station is an interchange between the MTR's Kwun Tong line and East Rail line, and the area is also home to City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University. A Kowloon Tong map poster shows a rare side of Hong Kong, where rail lines, campuses and gardens take the place of the familiar towers.

Many streets are named after English counties, including Kent, Cumberland and Somerset Roads, a colonial-era legacy that appears on the map as a network of quiet residential roads.
Kowloon Tong station links the Kwun Tong line with the East Rail line. The rail corridors cut across the district and help frame its low-rise streets.

Koteā ko Kowloon Tong
Students and graduates of City University and Baptist University, families who have lived in the district and anyone who knows Hong Kong well recognise Kowloon Tong as a place apart. Its map is a quiet counterpoint to the familiar skyline image of the city.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are editable, so the poster can name a campus, a street or a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit a compact flat or an office wall.
