Te mapa
Kulathummal lies in Thiruvananthapuram District in southern Kerala, inland from the state capital and toward the Western Ghats. The landscape is typical of this part of Kerala: gently undulating ground, low laterite ridges and narrow valleys, with houses scattered among coconut palms and other trees rather than packed into dense blocks.
From above, the roads do not form a grid. Instead, they follow ridges and wind between valleys, branching into lanes that lead to individual houses and small clusters. Paddy fields and streams occupy the lower ground, appearing as open strips on the map. A Kulathummal map poster captures this organic pattern, where settlement and greenery are thoroughly interwoven.
The area forms part of the growing suburban belt around Thiruvananthapuram, where villages are gradually merging into continuous residential areas. Even so, the tree cover and the rolling terrain keep a sense of openness, and the map reflects a place that is neither fully urban nor fully rural but a gentle blend of the two.
Main roads follow the higher ground in long curves, with smaller lanes dropping down on either side to houses scattered across the slopes.
Low-lying land between the ridges holds paddy fields and streams, forming narrow open bands that thread through the settlement on the map.
Homes are spread among trees rather than grouped in tight blocks, giving the poster a soft, scattered texture unlike a typical town grid.

Koteā ko Kulathummal
For Keralites working in the Gulf, in other Indian cities or further afield, a map of Kulathummal keeps the shape of home: the road along the ridge, the lane down to the house, the fields below. It is a gentle and personal subject for a poster.
