Te mapa
Kushimoto lies at the southern end of the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama, and Cape Shionomisaki nearby is the southernmost point of Japan's main island, Honshu. On a map the town is mostly coastline. Narrow strips of streets fit between the sea and wooded hills, and headlands and bays shape almost every edge of the frame.
Just offshore lies Kii-Ōshima, linked to the mainland by a bridge, which gives the map a striking second landmass. The island is known for the 1890 wreck of the Ottoman frigate Ertuğrul, whose rescue by local villagers is remembered as the start of Japanese–Turkish friendship. Along the shore, the Hashigui-iwa rock pillars run out into the water in a line.
A Kushimoto map poster brings together sea, island and cape in one composition. There is little flat land, so the streets follow the coast closely, and the Pacific occupies a generous part of the design.
The southernmost point of Honshu pushes into the Pacific as a broad headland, a natural focal point at the bottom edge of the map.
A bridge crosses the narrow strait to Kii-Ōshima, joining two landmasses and adding a strong single line across the water in the poster.
A row of rock pillars stretches from the shore towards Ōshima, a natural feature that appears on the map as a dotted line of small islets.

Koteā ko Kushimoto
A map of Kushimoto suits anyone who has stood at the edge of Honshu, followed the coast road around the Kii Peninsula or feels a link to its maritime history. The coastline alone makes a strong, simple image.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date you reached the cape, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Available as $9 HD files or a printed poster.
